The future of electrical vehicles (EV) and how such vehicles are charged is key for their success and growth. It is not only about static charging when the vehicle is in the parking lot but also about dynamic charging so the battery can be charged while the car is moving. Wireless EV charging is becoming key since it removes the need to constantly plug the car in to recharge the battery. This presentation will focus on showing how electromagnetic and thermal simulation are used to design one of the key elements of wireless charging systems: the coil antennas, strategic elements in the system to ensure proper battery charging and to mitigate and avoid safety and thermal issues.
